I think I've been scammed — what should I do first?

If you suspect you've been scammed, act quickly:

  1. Stop — don't send more money or share more information.
  2. Document — screenshots, URLs, emails, phone numbers, payment receipts.
  3. Contact your bank — report unauthorized charges immediately.
  4. Report officially — local police + national cybercrime agency (IC3 in the US, Action Fraud in the UK).
  5. File a community reportsubmit here to warn others.
